(More customer reviews)Just replaced a ceiling light with this fan/light combo. Selected this model since it is designed for a fluorescent light (13W, 4-post) not included). I had adequate attic space which is needed for an existing location, where the housing must attached to a ceiling joist with screws (not included). The housing needs a clamp connector for a standard 3/8" (1/2" KO). I used NuTone's (Broan) Wall Ducting Kit to keep it simple (note: it only has 5 feet of 4" flex duct).
Directions lack the details for a DIY'er, so it took me most of a day to convert and install. But, it was worth it...great fan and light operation.
Installation requires a 9.25-inch square cut in the ceiling right next to the ceiling joist. I used four #10 x 5/8" pan head phillips-head screws to attach the housing, and the existing single wire for electric - so fan and light operate at the same time (you can have dual operation if different wiring is used).
The noise level is 3 sones, which is about mid-way between quiet and loud, acceptable for our location.
Fan works well taking out shower steam and moisture.
I am very please with this model. I've got another one on order to install in the other bathroom
