(More customer reviews)The cheaper duct boosters use rectangular shaded pole motor which need a filter to protect from dirt/dust.This one uses a large enclosed cylindrical motor.Very sturdy looking.Probably still a good idea to put in a filter, but you can do without.
Note: Cheaper fans with shaded pole can be speed controlled with a simple fan speed control/switch.To control this motor's speed, you'll need to get the Tjernlund control which fits in the junction box on the side of the duct booster housing.I think about $40.
