(More customer reviews)This thermostat works great with my heat pump (2 heat / 1 cool).The display is bright and easy to read, and it was easy enough to install (once discovering how my kooky heat pump unit was actually wired).Initial setup required cracking open the manual but setting up the cooling schedule for the days of the week was very straightforward.One of my favorite features is the ability to "dumb down" the model.For instance, I only need two settings per day, not four which is the default.So setting it to two made it quicker and easier to program.Also, there appears to be an option to have one setting for all days of the week (m-f) and then individual settings for saturday and sunday (5-1-1) so that you don't have to worry with individually programming the week days.I'm not using this option but when I reprogram for heat I might turn that on. It's great to have the option to use the full capabilities or only a subset.

(More customer reviews)I wanted the simplest digital thermostat possible for use in an oft-rented condo. Unlike most, you don't even have to press a button on this one to see the current setting. It is in their commercial line, so it is sturdy and very flexible as to system type and wiring. The only drawback for some applications is that you have to pry the front cover off to replace the batteries. This avoids the little doors that usually break or fall off in heavy usage, but it also means that people unfamiliar with it could have trouble replacing the batteries, and unless your thermostat wiring supplies power (many don't), it needs the batteries to operate. Price is great and it was shipped on time.

(More customer reviews)This model has a number of good features for the price, including the ability to optionally get its power externally (and use the battery only for back-up), the backlit display, easy battery replacement, and the so-called "adaptive intelligent recovery", which means that the thermostat learns how long it takes to raise the temperature by a certain amount, and will start the heater earlier than specified to ensure that the requested temperature is reached at the requested time (this feature may be turned off).The manuals are good and installation is easy.

This thermostat's main flaw, which is common to many thermostats, is that it clicks whenever it turns heat (or cool) on or off.It is aesthetically pleasing, although I wish it were a bit thinner (it's slightly over 1.5" thick).Be aware that although the thermostat is truly 5-1-1 (weekday, Sat, Sun programs), it comes from the factory in 5-2 mode (weekday and week-end programs), which is what most people will want anyhow.The installation manual explains how to change between 5-2 and 5-1-1.

1.The battery replacement cover is on the front (you do not have to take out the whole unit or take screw out to replace batteries

2.The 1 touch backlight is very convenient to look things up at night

3.The ability to program the device off the wall while sitting down comfortably with the manual and pieces of paper is convenient

4.The one touch feature to tell the device that you home for the day wthout other intervention is convenient.

other than that, what can I say?it works!

(More customer reviews)The thermostat was inexpensive and does the job as stated. There are four settings per day [presets]. The programming for weekdays and weekends are done separately. It has two overides: one for temporary bi-bass [from one preset to another] or a vacation overide [until you return home]. The only thing negative about the thermostat is that it doesn't light up for easier viewing in dim light or darkness.

(More customer reviews)This thermostat is worth every penny!It does exactly what it should do, and the instructions were perfect for my heating/cooling system.I didn't have any problems putting it in.

What the other review didn't mention is that this thermostat has extra features over the other Hunter models.The big difference is the Energy usage information.It tracks the amount of time that the system was on today, yesterday, this week, last week, and total since you installed it.It's neat being able to come home and see that the air conditioning was on for only 30 minutes, or on for 2 hours.This helps you figure out how your thermostat settings are affecting your real energy usage.It also has a filter reset reminder, which tracks the number of hours that the system has been used with the current filter.This is useful, since most filters say they last 3 months.But the real lifetime of the filter is based on how much air has been blown through it.You could run it for 12 hours a day, and it might only last one month.On the other hand, you could run it only 10 minutes a day, and it would probably last 6 months.With the filter reminder, it's able to tell you when you truly need to replace the filter.

Also, the backlight works perfectly in my opinion.It only stays on for 5 seconds after you stop pushing any buttons.So if you are programming things, then it continually stays on until you are done programming.Plus, if you are just checking the current temperature or setting, 5 seconds is more than enough time to read a 2-digit number.I love this thermostat, and recommended it to a friend who loves it as well.It's much lower-priced compared to other competitors like Honeywell, and has a nice, simple interface.The blue backlight is gorgeous as well, and other brands don't all offer an indiglo backlight like this one does.There really isn't anything I don't like about this product.I HIGHLY recommend it!

It is a bit of a chore to program in all the different temps for different times of day, but I have no other thermostat to compare this feature to. The only difficult part was making up my mind what I wanted those settings to be.

What is brilliant is that at night I can close my bedroom door with the remote sensor inside and control the house temp based on that one room. With the door shut, it heats/cools a lot faster than the living room does (where the main unit is located).

I've been looking for a product like this for a year or two and finally happened upon this at one of those buy in bulk stores for just $50.
