(More customer reviews)This fan worked correctly for about a week, then malfunctioned.Whether on low or high, it would sometimes slow to almost "off".This is a malfunction, not a breeze function that some more expensive fans have.There is apparently a short circuit or numerous ones in the wiring.

Even when it did work right for the 1st week, I still hated it, since it's not a simple left/right oscillation.It instead rotates in a weird not-quite figure 8 pattern that is totally useless and random.

Unfortunately I tossed the box and receipt or I'd return it, but I'm never buying another Accutek product again.It's a bad design, horribly built.Not a winning combo!

(More customer reviews)My electrician installed this fan in a bare ceiling which did not previously have a fan.We hooked the fan up to a timer - Leviton LTB60 - which allows the fan to continue running after the user has left the room.The lights for the fan and the vanity light are controlled by a stacked switch (Leviton 5634), so the timer and two switches take up only two slots.As for the fan, it is not as quiet as my $130 Panasonic fan but for a $30 fan, it's pretty good.It's a whooshing sound but not so loud that I can hear it above the sound of running water.The light bay takes a small CFL, so be sure to find one in the wattage you want before you install the fan. I chose a 60W equivalent cfl bulb and it is not very bright.My kids like the fact that it's a dimmer ceiling light and if they need more light, we still have a vanity light on a separate switch.

(More customer reviews)I thought I ordered a fan with .6 sones, but got a fan with 1.0 sones. The confusion came through finding the same model number on different sites. Just make sure you get what you want.
That said, this fan is much quieter than the rattletrap it replaced. With an old house, I had a lot of expensive problems getting it installed, but that's not a fault of the exhaust fan.

(More customer reviews)This is a great fan!I ordered two of them because the fans in my bathrooms were way too small for the size of the bathrooms.They didn't move the air at all much less pull it out and clear the bathroom of steam.These fans do that and you can actually feel the air circulating!They are at a great price too....I got mine for half of what Lowe's and Home Depot wanted for similar fans!Both of mine together with free shipping cost just a little more than one of the ones at Lowe's.I highly recommend this fan if you are looking for something to clear the steam out of the bathroom.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this fan because the blades looked a little more like the old box fans that you used to be able to get 20 years ago.Back then the blades were wider and had a steeper pitch.When they said 20" they meant the diameter of the blade, not the size of the box.

Well I was partially right.Compared to the Lasko 3733 that I own and some unknown model of a Lakewood box fan with nearly identical blades as the Lasko, it moves a little more air and is a little quieter.Noise is hard to characterize.To me the Air King is quieter because the noise it makes is at lower frequencies and is easier to ignore -- It's more of a "rumble" than the "buzz" you get from the Lasko and Lakewood.

Much of Air King's slight performance advantage is because it is a bigger fan.The Box is 21" and the blades are 20".The Lasko and Lakewood have 20" boxes and the blades are 19"Is it worth twice the price as the Lasko and Lakewood?Probably not, but there isn't much choice anymore.It looks like all these fans come from the same factory.

(More customer reviews)I currently already own several Lakewood fans, so when I saw this one advertised I assumed it would be made of the same quality material my other fans were made of -- not so.The plastic it is made of is very inferior and the fan already is not working properly, after only a few uses.It is noisy and wobbly and barely functions.Too bad because the older fans still work very well after using them often over the past few years.

The fan performs its job effectively and has a totally enclosed ball bearing motor. Because of this motor you can operate this fan in dirty environments without concern, and with ball bearings this fan will probably last 20 years or more with seasonal usage.
I would highly recommend this fan to anybody.

(More customer reviews)I'm giving this product five stars because I've installed these in the past and it's an excellent ventilation unit, and because Air King has excellent customer support BUT...

.... this was ANOTHER Amazon shipping disaster: the fan was packed in exterior box into which it fit tightly, the result was that the venturti was cracked in half and the collar and damper were broken into 11 pieces (I counted).

I'm hardly surprised that arrived in the conditioner it did given the spectacularly negligent nature of the packagingand especially given that I frequently receive orders in a condition which leads me to suspect that the FedEx sorting crew is been playing basketball with them -IMO anybody who intends to surrender merchandise to the tender mercy of FedEx ought to assume it's going to be treated as badly or worse, and package accordingly.

And adding to injury, I paid for overnight shipping, which I assume in this case probably meant that instead of playing basketball with the fan it was shot out of a cannon from one end of the sorting facility to the other.

Air King is sending replacement parts at no charge but clearly if you're going to purchase this item, you need to purchase it from somebody who gives a tinker's %)&# about whether it arrives in one piece or a dozen

(More customer reviews)Bought the 90 cfm/2.5 sones unit to replace the builder's grade 50 cfm/4+ sones.The additional airflow was noticeable and the noise wasn't - just what I needed.

The frame is all plastic, which means no rust, though seeing how the bracket, motor, and motor mount is steel, I wouldn't place too much value on that aspect.The box is more rigid than the typical bent steel box, however, so there is value in that - no rattles.

Installation was a snap - literally.These units have a separate bracket that you screw into the joist, then snap the unit into place from below.It's much easier than the usual small-flange-at-the-edge mounting that other units use.Indeed, I spent less time installing this unit versus removing the old (working in a cramped attic space, nails to pry out, etc.)A plastic grommet and 3 wire nuts are included too - a nice touch.

The included materials note that ventilation fans have a 5 year warranty, not just a 1 year, so the manufacturer is confident that it'll last.I hope so too, as I intend to purchase more to replace the other noisemakers.

I'm also pleased to see the all metal construction, this fan is built to last. (plastic blades will flex and your cfm will drop.) Yea, it's noisy at full speed but I've got some light weather stripping that'll be perfect to significantly reduce the vibrations. We'll mostly run it at low speed anyway which still moves 2510 CFM. In contrast, we recently purchased TWO $8.00 twin plastic window fans from a local big box on closeout, [ regular price ~$20.00+, very much like, the Holmes HAWF2030 ] and those things are not worth spit!! The Air King will just about suck the cat through the door from across the room! I'm confident that my Air King was well worth the money.

I have had the old Pattons and Lakewoods and they were great, but now they are both made in China from cheap materials and they are crap. I just got the Air King and it is built like a tank. At first use, the fan was shaking a lot, and even though there are isolation mounts at the base, the shaking made a VERY irritating rattle noise. We took the front cover off, and found that the blades themselves were way too loose. We balled up some electrical tape and shoved it into each of the blade holders. SO SILENT NOW, even when at its highest setting. Aside from the rattling issue, this little fan was a great purchase. We've used it every day for about two months now, no problem.
