The barely discernible wind from the fan does indeed blow not forwards, but backwards,however that gets your fingers caught and stops the action. The spray spits drops and dribbles down your fingers and arm. Could easily soak everything in one's pocket book or pocket. Now for the kicker. Check out supplier's return policy. Actually, one should do this before purchasing anything, but in this case, it's a lost cause, getting even a small share of my money back, what with the restocking and shipping fees.

(More customer reviews)I currently already own several Lakewood fans, so when I saw this one advertised I assumed it would be made of the same quality material my other fans were made of -- not so.The plastic it is made of is very inferior and the fan already is not working properly, after only a few uses.It is noisy and wobbly and barely functions.Too bad because the older fans still work very well after using them often over the past few years.

Lakewood #1002WP WP 4" Hi Velocity Fan Review

(More customer reviews)This would be a 5-star item if it weren't for 2 out of 3 samples that sound like a 1963 VW Beetle with valve trouble idling noisily in a tile bathroom. You'd never think a fan this small could make that much noise, but 2 of my 3 WP's had that problem. Effectively, that raises the price of a single good one by 3X. One fan still cools my TV cabinet and components just fine. A 2nd one fresh out of the box sounded like an old Chevy pickup with a bad muffler, and the 3rd developed a violent rattle and growling motor noise after a few days' use. The one that works is a real 5-star champ for over a year now, but I to ditch the other two. A least I didn't pay the much higher price for this same product that sells for more elsewhere. Just be safe and order more than one.

O2Cool 1089 Portable 2-Speed Tower Misting Fan Review

What makes it so nifty is it works on a car charger,(included) regular a/c (included) OR D batteries! 3 different power sources in one make it very portable and usable in different situations. The fans themselves are small yet its quite powerful and you can angle the bottom fan up or down and the top one left to right..the mist comes out in the middle and is VERY cooling and refreshing, (esp if u used chilled water) Now it does say that the misting last for some ridicules amount of time like 10 hours. That's wrong, you have to fill up the bottle about every hour to 2 hours and SOMETIMES esp on the intermittent misting feature it will stop misting and u have the give the bottle a little twist or tap. Still though living in HOT n HUMID FL I find it's an item I cannot live without and on dryer days it doubles as a humidifier, have used in the house and as long as your not setting it next to electronics it doesn't get anything soaking or dripping wet. Also a great item to cool off your car on a hot day and even ad to the a/c. And the the D battery feature is portable enough to take outside for gardening, to cool pets and great for power outages-storms etc. My only little complainants is I the black plastic fans seem a little cheap-I wouldn't adjust them a lot and I believe the ad or box say they oscillate and they don't, you have to manually adjust them into position and like I said the water/misting isn't as advertised for how long it lasts and does clog every now and again and just an FYI it's pretty noisy esp, when misting (but that doesn't bother me) and I would have to say item is easily 20 bucks over priced, if it were not for that I would have given it 5 stars. BUT EVEN at the listed price its a practical and versatile and EFFECTIVE item and I highly recommend. I don't camp but it would be PERFECT for camping! I can think of MANY uses for this item!

I do want to update my review over year later here in May 2010.I did have to send the first one back as it stopped misting in a short period of time.The seller did ship another one out pronto and it worked great.On my second fan, after many months of use and a bump or two being moved here and there, the top fan stopped working, tho it still mists and the bottom fan works. And now that Ive had it I have many times wanted to put ice in the water jug and you cant as the cap is too small, chilled water does work fine. Still tho I am a believer in this product for personal use/power outages (its been a real livesaver as I HATE being HOT)Ive also noted that the price has gone up even more since I bought mine.THE PRICE IS A TOTAL RIP FOR WHAT IT IS.Dont get me wrong, I still love it and use it, and wanted to buy another one, BUT NOT AT THIS PRICE.This fairly needs to be in the 20 to 30 dollar price range!Still a good product to have around but keep in mind its tall and small and meant for ONE PERSON ONLY sitting right in front of it.

(More customer reviews)I didn't realize how tiny this fan is! It's quite cute and surprisingly pushes a lot of air for it size. The noise level is acceptable and comparable to other vornado products (it's not super-super quite, but it's not loud). Note that this doesn't oscillate as does the larger models.

I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because through all my research I was mislead that this oscillated (which is probably my faulty expectations) and that the fan wasn't larger (which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the needs of my purchase). Otherwise this fan is definitely a cool little fan that pushes a surprising amount of air for it's size. (though, don't expect a tornado).

(More customer reviews)The only reason I did not give this item 5 stars is the cord is a bit too short for my desk arrangement and I didn't like the clip style although it works fine and appears quite sturdy. The real surprise was how wonderfully quiet it is even at high speed. It supplies just the right amount of airflow to combat stuffiness and not disrupt loose papers on your desk. In hindsight I wish I'd bought one of these when I started getting hot flashes. Please note you can turn off the oscillating feature by pulling up the top button. At this price point for this quality, I'm very pleased.

If there were anything to change about it, it would be to put the controls on the front (where I can reach them) rather than the rear, but this is a minor issue.

(More customer reviews)I figured I'd write a review, because I feel this little fan has gotten some undue bad press.

For what it is, it is a very good little fan. It's very small, and sleek looking. Within 15 minutes of bringing it into my office cubicle, someone commented on how "cool" it looked.

Beyond the aesthetics of the fan, it produces a nice breeze on the low setting, which is virtually silent. Nothing that powerful, but you can definitely feel the breeze up to five feet away or so. The high setting seems to about double or triple the air moved, but it does produce a slight motor noise. Nothing too loud. At five feet away or so, it's just a low hum. Anything beyond that, and you can't really hear it.

For me, it is exactly what I was looking for. A quiet fan that lowers the temperature by a couple degrees and moves air around.

Pros:
- Virtually silent on the lowest setting
- Perfect for an office environment
- Looks "cool"
- Rotates on its base, so I don't have to pick it up to point it in a different direction.

Cons:
- High setting is arguably loud (it's acceptable in my environment)
- It's not a power house fan (if you just had a two hour work out session, this fan isn't going to cool you down much)
- It takes two hands to change between off/high/low settings, since it swivels on its base, and a dial controls speeds (one hand to hold it from swiveling, and another to turn the dial)
