Broan-Nutone P59W Fan Control Switch Review

(More customer reviews)This timer works well. It makes a clicking sound like a clock. I use it in my shower so I don't forget to turn off the fan. So far I have not tried to go all the way up to 60 minutes, but I have gone so far as 30 minutes. Not sure I could stay in shower that long! I would recommend this fan control switch to others.

(More customer reviews)This air conditioner/heater/dehumidifier is highly overrated by the manufacturer. 12,000 BTU should make your home feel like a refrigerator. It doesn't! It doesn't come close to the air cooling capacity of window units with less than half this rating. The drainage outlet is located way too close to the floor thereby not allowing for a hose to drain properly without elevating the unit. While there is a condensation overflow tank drainage again is an issue. I ran the unit for a solid eight hours at the lowest temperature setting/highest fan speed and the first floor of my small home was only marginally cooler. I was very disappointed as I had hoped this was the answer to both my cooling and heating needs.

Vornado 660 Air Circulator, 4 Speeds Review

(More customer reviews)I live in a medium sized 1 bedroom apartment. I wanted a small fan. I originally bought a smaller, $40 Vornado fan and found that I had to turn it all the way up to circulate air in the room, which meant the fan made a lot of noise. I did some comparison research on the Vornado web site, and found that this fan (the 660 series) has the lowest "power consumed to air moved" ratio of any other Vornado fan, meaning this is the most energy efficient fan that Vornado makes, so I returned the small fan and traded up for this fan.

This fan is much larger than what I thought I needed (and twice the price of the $40 fan I was looking at). This fan has better air circulation on the lowest setting than the smaller fan did on the highest setting. Since I'm using a lower fan setting, this fan is very quiet. Plus I have the option of turning it up all the way if I really want to move some air.

The directional focus of the fan works as advertised. I put the fan in one corner of the room, and can literally feel a column of air at the opposite corner of the room.

The circulation of the fan works as advertised. I can feel the fan drawing air in from the sides when I stand to one side of the fan. When I first turned the fan on, it was on a high shelf, and it drew up dust bunnies from the floor and spat them out. The temperature in the room feels more balanced. The AC doesn't seem to run as often (I'm writing this in the middle of the July 2010 heat wave in DC). There are no hot spots or cool spots in the room. I feel cooler, having a constant, subtle flow of air around me.

I'm very happy with this fan. This is one product that works as advertised and so far it has been worth every penny. I move it between the living room and the bedroom every day, and I will likely buy another one of these fans soon.

(More customer reviews)This fan is very energy efficient and moves lots and lots of air.On High it only takes 24 watts and less than 5 watts on low.It is built with a newly designed DC motor using permanent magnets to accomplish this level of efficiency and it has 6 speeds.
It is easy for one person to install as it allows you to hang the fan and THEN wire it in.You don't have to have another person hold the fan while you wire it in like some fans do.The instructions were mostly easy to understand but a tad confusing as to which side of the blades were supposed to face the ceiling.It has a tag on each blade "This side up", but you install the blades when the fan motor is upside down sitting on the floor.I installed them wrong after I realized that it circulated air upward amazingly well, but didn't blow down.I removed the blades reversed them and all was fine.It would have been clearer if the tag on each blade had said "This side towards Ceiling" as that would have removed any doubt as to their orientation while assembling.
It is almost inaudible on the first two speeds and on the higher speeds you can hear the movement of air but never the motor.I did not experience any "buzzing" of the lights when turned on like some others report.The only small downside is that you cannot dim the lights as it uses 4 Compact Florescent with a color temperature of 2700K to mimic the color of incandescent lights.They are either on or off.Remote works fine, but uses one of those 12v garage door opener batteries rather than easily attainable AAA.It doesn't wobble one bit.
If you run a fan all the time for air circulation this fan certainly is one of the most economical and quietest fans you can run.Paid $419 on Amazon and it was $700 at a local lighting store.I considered Casablanca, but went with this one because of the low energy use.
It is a really well built fan but I gave it a four because the lights can't be dimmed, installation of the blades could have been clearer, and the remote doesn't use a common size battery.

(More customer reviews)This is a cut to fit solution to a heat loss problem. Now that it's in place, I don't notice it. The supplied Velcro tape made no sense to me, as you would have part of it permanently attached to the shutter. It would look tacky. I went out and bought two roll of adhesive magnetic tape (less than $3.00 for both), attached the tape to the back of the insulation, and stuck the insulation up to the shutter for a tight, magnetic seal. When summer comes, the insultation goes away with no evidence of its existance.

(More customer reviews)This is my first Vornado purchase.I just found about about this brand from a person in my office.She had a smaller unit, but also a smaller office, and it worked very well on the lowest speed.

This thing is _heavy_.It feels very well constructed, and not at all "chintzy" like the usual $20 fans.On the lowest speed it's amazingly quiet from ~5 feet away.

The only thing I dislike is the noise generated by the middle and high speeds--but that's really rather a non-issue, as it's perfectly capable of circulating the air in an entire 10 x 10 room on the low setting.

As my coworker put it, it's an "air circulator" moreso than a fan; you don't point it directly at you. Rather, angle it somewhere else in the room, from a bit away, and the entire room gets a nice, gentle breeze.I was quite skeptical of this idea, thanks to all the inefficient, cheap fans I've purchased over the years, but this idea WORKS.I stay cooler throughout the day--and my papers aren't constantly blowing off my deskNeat!

Overall I'm very happy with this purchase, and would recommend others to consider this over a cheap fan you'll be replacing in a year once again.

This isn't cheap, but I feel I received very good value for the money spent overall.
